Charlotte Sorkine Noshpitz
Charlotte Sorkine Noshpitz was born in Paris on February 15, 1925. Her mother was from Romania and her father was from Rogachev (now Belarus). They were not French citizens at the time of German occupation of France. This is a big threat to them because foreign nationals were taken during the first round-ups. Later on she ended up joining the French Resistance. During her time of service she was only 17 years old, now she is 88 years old. As a teenager she ran illegal weapons and made false identity papers for people in need. In July of 1944 she joined an independent liaison group and a Jewish Fighting Organization. She also took an active part in the liberation of Paris.
Raymond Aubrac
Gestapo officers stormed a house in Caluire, Lyons, on June 21 1943 where Aubrac was one of eight senior resistants. Aubrac was arrested and after a few months, a woman presented herself to Aubrac's captors. The woman, named Lucie, claimed to be carrying Aubrac's child. She was telling the truth about the child but she claimed they were not married and that the child would be born illegitimate unless they had a wedding. However Lucie was already married to Raymond. On October 21 Aubrac was taken to the wedding "ceremony". On the way there, the convoy was attacked by a heavily-armed gang and Aubrac was freed.
